The Nouvelle Génération Chamber Orchestra and its artistic director, Yuli Turovsky, are pleased to invite you to the last concert of their 2011-12 inaugural season entitled "Tchaikovsky and Virtuosity" on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 8 pm, which will be held at the University of Montreal's magnificent Salle Claude-Champagne.
To conclude a first season that was rich in colour and musical diversity, we offer you a program centered on virtuosity, featuring some of our finest young musicians. To begin the evening, our brilliant soloist, violinist Xiaohan Guo, will perform Carmen Fantasy, Op. 25 by the French composer Georges Bizet. Next, discover the Grand Duo Concertante for Violin and Double Bass by Giovanni Bottesini with violinist Robert Margaryan and double bassist Roman Malanoche who will dazzle you with his agility and prowess on this largest of string instruments. As a grand finale, Tchaikovsky's heart-wrenching String Quartet No. 3 in E-flat minor, Op. 30 in an arrangement for string orchestra by our artistic director, Yuli Turovsky, and under the skillful hands of conductor Alain Aubut.
