A composer “glittering with professionalism” (Vancouver Sun), Roydon Tse is an award-winning Chinese Canadian composer and pianist. His music has been presented in North America, Europe, China, and Australia by ensembles such as the Toronto Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Winnipeg Symphony, Edmonton Symphony, Brno Philharmonic, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra, ECM+, Quatuor Bozzini, Trio Anima Mundi, Mississauga Festival Choir, Land’s End Chamber Ensemble, and Vanguard Voices. Upcoming performances include Three Musings with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, East Carolina University Symphony, and Etobicoke Philharmonic, Down the Rabbit Hole with the Orchestre Nouvelle Generation, and Footsteps in Campbell House for the University of Toronto Opera Collective.
Scholarships and prizes for his music have come from the Canadian Music Centre, Indiana University, UBC, University of Toronto, California State University, Edmonton Mayor’s Celebration for the Arts, Canada Council for the Arts, Trio Anima Mundi, Robert Avalon Composers Competition, Vancouver Chamber Choir, Alberta Arts Foundation, and the Edmonton Symphony Foundation.
He holds a Bachelor in Music Composition from UBC, and will complete his Master in Composition at the University of Toronto. Teachers in composition include Christos Hatzis, Gary Kulesha, Dorothy Chang, Stephen Chatman, and John Estacio.
